Crochet Basket Using DIY T-Shirt Yarn

If you have a ton of spare t-shirts cramming your drawers and want to get creative, then this fun project is for you! Crochet backets made from t-shirt yarns make for excellent handcrafted gifts, cute holders for all your bundles of yarn, and so much more!

Material: t-shirt yarn (I used the one that I made in my previous video)

Larger hooks, depending on how thick your yarn is. Use whatever is most comfortable to work with for you and the yarn you are using.

Now, let’s get creating!

Start with a Magic Ring

ROW 1:

SC 7 into Magic Ring and Slip Stitch at the end of the row

ROW 2:

CH 2, DC 2 in every stitch in the row, then Slip Stitch at the end of the row

ROW 3 & 4:CH 2, *DC, DC2* – repeat *-* until the end of the row and Slip Stitch at the end

TURN YOUR WORK AROUND.

ROW 5:

Slip Stitch every stitch

FLIP YOUR WORK BACK OVER TO THE SIDE YOU STARTED ON.

ROW 6 – 11:

CH 1, SC in every stitch. Slip Stitch at the end to the first single crochet of your row

CHANGE YOUR COLOR.

ROW 12:

CH 1, SC in every stitch. Slip Stitch at the end to the first single crochet of your row

ROW 13:

THIS WILL BE YOUR HANDLE ROW.

CH 1, SC 8, CH 4, SC 14, CH 4, SC  and Slip Stitch at the end

ROW 14 – 16:

CH 1, SC in every stitch. Slip Stitch at the end to the first single crochet of your row

TURN YOUR WORK (OVER?)

ROW 17:

Backward SC in every stitch of the row.

And just like that, your little handy basket is done!

Happy crocheting! 😊
