Mixed Media - Light switch makeover

Add a flair of color and personality to any room with a light switch makeover! Since you decide what accessories to fasten to your cover, this project is the perfect addition to any style of light switch you currently own. Now, let’s look at the steps needed to transform your bland cover into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

  • Coat your cover with Gesso primer.
  • I like to tap my Gesso on, which adds a little textured
  • Let it dry completely.
  • Attach any and all embellishments you wish to use.
  • I applied a bit of lightweight spackling paste to create more texture. If you decide to use the paste, it’s not a requirement, you can add it anywhere you want extra texture.
  • Let everything dry completely.
  • Paint every with black acrylic paint (I used 2 coats of black, but you can use just 1 if you want more white to seep through. The more layers, the darker it will turn out.)
  • Putting out some colors, I am not sure what I will be doing with them yet 😊
  • My brush is dry, with only a small amount of paint on it. You can see how I am touching the painted parts right away and my hands stay
  • Now, apply Mod Podge to seal everything together.
  • Let it dry completely.
  • To finish the product off, use silver and gold gilding wax.

It’s that simple and fun, and now you have a beautiful and unique light switch cover! And remember, you can try this project on any light switch cover you have – as long as it’s removable, decorate it to your heart’s desire. 😊

Have fun!
